Unfolding

Unfolding is a 16 x 20 inch mixed media painting on canvas, created with acrylic and oil.

A swan stretches its wings against layers of soft blues, greens, and warm golden tones. This was one of the first paintings where I began changing the reference instead of simply following what was in front of me. I wanted the swan to feel strong and peaceful, like it was just beginning to open up and become something more.

The name Unfolding comes from that feeling of stretching out, rising up, and learning how to fly.
