Quiet Majesty

24 x 30 x 3/4 in.

Mixed media on canvas

Quiet Majesty brings a calm, watchful lion forward from layers of color, texture, pattern, and loose marks.

I loved letting the background stay a little messy and unexpected. There’s spray paint, layered patterns, areas that disappear into softer edges, and marks that are still allowed to feel like marks.

Then there were the little wins along the way. Those paws were definitely one of them.

The lion feels strong without needing to be loud, and I love the contrast between his quiet presence and everything happening around him.

Original mixed media painting on canvas.
