Holding Ground was painted as a study in quiet strength.
The lion stands with ease, not in motion and not in retreat. There is no display of force, only presence. The limited palette allows the warmth of the light to rise slowly from the shadows, revealing form, weight, and character without distraction.
This moment invites the viewer to consider what it means to stand firm without aggression. Is it courage, confidence, patience, authority, peace? The meaning is left open, shaped by the season and story each viewer brings with them.
This painting was created during my studio studies and formal training, as I continue developing my voice in oil through focused school work. While these pieces are finished, signed, and one of one, they are intentionally priced as studio works rather than gallery priced paintings.
