Black on Black Beauty was painted as a quiet study of strength, presence, and dignity.

Set against a dark ground, the horse emerges slowly, almost as if from shadow. The deep blacks are layered with subtle shifts of warmth and coolness, allowing form, movement, and personality to surface without needing spectacle. There is power here, but it is restrained. Calm. A strength that does not need to prove itself.

The limited palette invites the viewer to slow down and look longer. To notice the curve of the neck, the softness around the eye, the quiet intelligence held in stillness. Is this confidence, resilience, nobility, gentleness? The meaning is left open, shaped by what the viewer brings with them.

This painting was created during my studio studies and formal training, as I continue developing my voice in oil through focused school work. While these pieces are finished, signed, and one of one, they are intentionally priced as studio works rather than gallery priced paintings.
